Referees serving the Southern New Mexico soccer community since 1978
On-Field Training Program (OFTP)
LCSRA has launched the On-Field Training Program (OFTP) - a new initiative to support new referees and to help all referees develop their skills.
During the Spring LCYSA season, experienced referees will be at the fields (primarily Burn Lake, but also at other fields) fulfilling their regular officiating assignments but also observing other referees, match situations, and any instances of inappropriate behavior by coaches and spectators that might arise.

At half-time and between games, they will take a few minutes to lead a discussion with all the referees about topics such as:
-
The Laws of the Game and their application
-
Referee and Assistant Referee mechanics
-
Local rules and the LCYSA Zero Tolerance Policy.

While referees are hydrating and reapplying sunscreen, we request that they also participate in the OFRT discussions. Ask questions, share your own thoughts and observations - then apply what you learn to the second half / next game.
