Kevin T. Riedel Memorial
Scholarship

The KEVIN T. RIEDEL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP was established in 2004 to honor the memory of Kevin, a referee and leader in the soccer community who passed away in an automobile accident on the way to a soccer tournament in California.

Gifts from many individuals and from both the Las Cruces Soccer Referee Association and Las Cruces Youth Soccer created a permanent endowment at the Southern New Mexico Community Foundation (CFSNM). Annual awards are made to referees who meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Active membership in the Las Cruces Soccer Referee Association

  • Graduating high school senior or current good standing enrollment in a higher education institution including professional and trade schools

  • Soccer community volunteerism including, but not limited to, service in referee or soccer organizations or coaching.

The deadline for scholarship applications in 2025 will be in March and will be widely advertised to eligible referees. The simple online application is available at the CFSNM website.
